Hello to all the new Hopper Group members!
The Sth Yorks Hoppers Group was listed for the first time in the most recent edition of 'Rabbiting On' magazine and since then I've been inundated with enquiries about the group so I wanted to take this oppportunity to say a big 'Hello!' and 'Welcome!' to all of the rabbit fans in South Yorkshire! I've been amazed and delighted at how many bunny lovers there are in the area and I can't wait for the next meet now!

I'll post up a time / date for the next Hoppers Group meeting shortly, but meanwhile if anyone has a particular preference for a time or date, feel free to state it here and I'll try my best to incorporate it!

It's that time again...
After the success of the last meet, I'm starting to make plans for the next Hoppers Group meeting!

When I arranged the last meeting a few people said that they preferred weekends to weekdays, so at the moment I'm provisionally looking at Saturday 21st July as a day for the next meet. The venue is currently undecided, but I'm open to suggestions!

One of the things I'd really like to talk about at the next meeting is how we can help our local rescues, including helping them to raise funds to continue the wonderful work they do. We are fortunate enough to have some fantastic rescues in South Yorkshire so I think it would be great if we could come together to support them.

I'll update the blog with the details of the next meet as and when they are decided...(watch this space!)

The Sth Yorks Group meet for the first time!
Firstly, I've been a bit slow at getting this entry posted up, so apologies for that!

The South Yorkshire Hoppers Group met for the first time as planned last Tuesday, at the Rising Sun pub in Sheffield. This first informal meeting was arranged through the forums hosted by the Rabbit Rehome website (see link in the top left hand corner!) rather than directly through the RWA, so I was amazed and absolutely delighted at how many fellow bunny lovers turned up! A huge 'thank you' to all of those people from me for what was a great evening - it was an absolute pleasure to meet everyone and also, to meet some of the gorgeous bunnies currently in the care of the Happy Hopper Rescue in Sheffield! (I took a detour on the way to the pub... )

The group met just after 7.30pm and stayed until kicking out time. For those of you who are reading this and are wondering what on earth a group of complete strangers found to talk about for that length of time, I'll give you a clue - rabbits, rabbit and well, rabbits! ;) But it wasn't really all bunny talk - we also managed to get round to the subject of holidays (New York in particular!), moving house, work and rather randomly, the London Aquarium, to name just a few...

I'm really looking forward to the next meeting. I haven't formally set a date and time for this yet, but I do have vague plans for a date in the middle of July. So, watch this space! Meanwhile, if you have a preference for a location (it doesn't have to be Sheffield!) or day of the week, please don't hesitate to post up your suggestions.

Welcome to the RWA South Yorkshire Hopper Group!
Hello and Welcome!

I'm Tracie and I'm Hopper Group leader for the South Yorkshire. 'Hopper Groups' are arranged through the Rabbit Welfare Association to bring together like-minded rabbit owners and local rescues. Originally the aim of the groups was purely social, but recently their role has extended to helping out at local rescues, fund raising for rabbit welfare causes and helping to continue to educate the public about proper rabbit care.

The aim of this blog is two-fold: I'll add a blog entry after every Hopper Group meeting and event and current members will have a chance to add their own comments and ideas about how the group should progress. For potential new members, it's a chance to find out more about who we are and what we do!

If you are a member of the RWA, live in South Yorkshire and would like to meet other rabbit people, then we'd love to hear from you! You can email me by clicking on the 'Contact Me' link on the left hand side of this page or alternatively, just come along to one of our regular meetings!

Information on how to become a member of the Rabbit Welfare Association can be found on their website:
http://www.houserabbit.co.uk/RWA/join.htm

The very first meeting of the South Yorkshire Hopper Group will be held on Tuesday 5th June, 7.30pm at the Rising Sun Inn, Sheffield. See you there!

Tracie
